Because this is only a demo and we are not actually selling anything other than PBCartTM itself, we cannot demonstrate transaction processing. Credit Card processing can be set up if required.
We have provided a printer friendly order form, that is dynamically generated from your cart, in lieu of the omitted transaction processing functions.

How Much Does it cost?

In general, your one-time licensing fee will be $500, and includes customization (within reason), and one free year of technical support.

Depending on the amount of customization required, the price may change. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Want an administrative demo?

If you want to see the back-end administrative functions, such as managing users, categories, and items, please contact us, and we'll be happy to set up a temporary admin account for you.

What payment processors are supported?

We'll work with you integrate PBCart with the payment processor of your choice, or you can simply use the printable order form. It's your choice. We recommend, but are not limited to the following payment solutions:

PBCart Information

Thank you for your interest PBCart.
PBCart allows you to store catalog information, including image files directly into a mySQL database, for on-the-fly dynamic display of information to any standard web browser, using Active Server Pages. ASP is a server technology, developed by Microsoft, which uses the server's resources to perform functions such as server file system or database access, performs logic and calculations, and preprocesses the output that will be sent to the client's browser in plain HTML form.

PBCart does not require the use of a third-party component to store image files to the database. All the necessary functionality has been coded in pure ASP.

A good rule of thumb for images that you wish to store, is to use the JPEG format at no more than 80% quality, and no larger than 250 pixels on either axis (width/height). This will make viewing of the content faster and more enjoyable for your customers, as well as using fewer server resources, due to the use smaller file sizes. That last part will also make the server's administrator a much happier person.

PBCart was designed for MySQL, however it can be modified to be compatible with other database technologies.

We've chosen MySQL because it is open source (That translates to FREE), and as such, is fast becoming the standard on most web servers. If that's not enough, major technology publications have run tests on all the major players in the database arena, and placed MySQL commandingly high against Oracle and Microsoft SQL server in terms of performance and scalability.

We've chosen ASP, in spite of all the anti-microsoft sentiments against it, because it is widely used, supported on non-Microsoft platforms (i.e. Chilisoft ASP on Linux/Apache), and again a free technology (to developers and users anyway). You are not required to buy anything to develop in Active Server Pages. All you need is the standard ASCII text editor you already have, and knowledge of ASP language and VBscript language, which are in our opinion easy to learn compared to other server-side scripting technologies.

Once your license is in effect, you may use PBCart and even modify/customize it if you wish. We do however, encourage you to submit information on any modifications you have made to tech@petabyte-technology.com. This will give us a heads-up when and if we need to support you.

If you want to help or if you have improvement requests that you want to share, contact us at tech@petabyte-technology.com. Thank you.
